Bedroom Environment For Good Sleep

Sometimes  the  solution  to  our  problems  is  right  under  our  nose, and we don’t even know it. The right sleep environment can make all the difference between a restful night or a fitful one. Everything matters, from the sheets (Madam Chiang Kai­shek, it is said, took her own sheets with her when she trav­eled-even to the White House) to the sort of clock that rests at your bedside. No detail is too small to ruin your sleep. The list could actually be endless, but ‘here’s a sample of what you should think about bedroom environment for good sleep.

Are your sheets fresh?

Is the blanket the right weight? Is the bed big enough?

Do the innersprings of the mattress make too much noise?

Are the pillows the correct density for you?

In other words, are you comfortable when you get into your bed at night? Here are some other, less obvious things to think about:

Adjust The Room Temperature

Is your thermostat set to automatically shift at night? Is that temperature really comfortable for you? When you get into bed at night do you find yourself piling on or throwing off covers? Lots of adjusting might mean _the room temperature is not good for you and could result in a restless night as you repeatedly wake either too hot or too cold to create bedroom environment for good sleep.

Dampen the noise

. If noise is keeping you awake, try eliminating as much of it as possible by using carpeting and draperies. Most of us can easily accommodate a relatively steady noise. It’s the occasional loud noises such as an air­plane or fire engine that cause a problem. If your environment ts clamorous, a noise screen such as a sound box can help. A white noise machine (which emits a steady but low-frequency noise) can muffle sounds by producing a soothing neutral tone without a pattern or message. Even running a fan or air conditioner can help bedroom environment for good sleep.

Turn off the clock

TTicking clocks will not do. Neither will a bright illuminated digital clock. People who can’t sleep often fixate on the glowing numerals, thereby increasing their level of frustration as they watch each second and minute go by. If you must keep a clock by the, side of your bed, at least tone down the glow; otherwise, put the clock under your bed or in a top dresser drawer so that you can’t obsess over the time
